Rage Against The Dying Of The Light
Rage Against the Dying of the Light is a project based around the village in rural Cheshire where I grew up. During lockdown, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, I returned home. This project documents the familiar at night and finds beauty in landscapes and objects people would not normally appreciate or think of as beautiful in the daytime.
Rage’s story began when my mental health was at a low point as a result of the gravity of the pandemic truly hitting me. I witnessed my friends, my colleagues and my own livelihood within the music industry vanish overnight. Rage was my release from the anxiety and depression that plagued my mind. It fulfilled my need to escape from the same four walls I saw every day, even if the photoshoot locations were within walking distance from my family home.
‘Rage Against the Dying of the Light’ takes inspiration from the landscapes of Sir Don McCullin and is named after a line from the Dylan Thomas poem, ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.'
